Governing Body is the membership and official voting body of ANA-MAINE. It is composed of the Board of Directors and accredited members in attendance at business meetings.
Board of Directors consists of the president, president-elect, secretary and treasurer, representatives to the House of Delegates who are elected from the membership. The remaining members are representatives of the standing committees and directors elected by the governing body. The functions of board of directors are defined in the current bylaws. All ANA-MAINE members have the right to present issues to the board of directors and attend meetings. Terms are two years.
Executive Committee of the Board of Directors composed of the officers, which
shall have all powers of the Board of Directors to transact business between Board meetings in accordance with rules established by the Board. Such transactions shall be reported at the next regular meeting of the Board of Directors.
Bylaws Committee is a standing committee of the membership. The committee is responsible to suggest, receive and propose bylaw amendments; to receive and review resolutions and conduct hearings related to proposed resolutions.
Finance Committee develops the annual budget, monitors the fiscal affairs of the association and recommends fiscal policy to the Board of Directors. Membership includes the organization's elected treasurer and other members of ANA-MAINE.
Legislative Committee is a standing committee of the membership. The committee's function is to develop the annual legislative agenda and to recommend organizational policy and position on legislation and related public policy.
Nominations Committee is a standing committee. The committee develops all ballots and coordinates the election process for the membership. In addition, the committee makes recommendations as needed, for the appointments to ANA representative positions and appointments for representatives to other organizations, coalitions etc., which require a ANA-MAINE representative. The committee elects the chairperson.
Continuing Education Committee: ANA-MAINE is Accredited as an Approver of Continuing Nursing Education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Awards Committee organizes the ceremony for the Sister Consuela and Agnes E. Flaherty Award. They send out the nomination notifications, review the nominations, arrange for the location, meal, speakers and select the award winners of the ceremony.
Conference Committee organizes the Annual Convention and Business Meeting. They select the speakers, arrange for the location, meal, silent auction and vendors/exhibitors.
RN No Harm-Maine Initiative: advocates for the safety and quality of patient care, the health and safety of registered nurses and other health care professionals and health care workers, and health care practices which do no harm to the public health environment outside the settings in which health care is delivered.
Policy and Procedure Manual Task Force does periodic reviews and updates of the policies and procedures for ANA-MAINE.
Editorial Committee collects articles and information for the ANA-MAINE Journal which is published quarterly and is sent to every nurse and hospital in the state. They also manage the ANA-MAINE web site.
